Saint Blaise is the patron saint of our hometown Dubrovnik. He is invoked to protect against injuries and illnesses of the throat, which makes wearing this necklace even more special.
The other side of the medallion has the Libertas coat of arms on it. The motto of the former Republic of Ragusa (also known as the Dubrovnik Republic,) was ‘Non bene pro toto Libertas venditur auro.’ (‘Liberty is not sold for all the gold in the world.’) This saying is very close to the local’s hearts.
